Balanced Rock and The Milky Way

Balanced Rock was lit with a warm-tone LED light panel during a 25 second exposure at ISO 2000 and f2.0 aperture to capture the Milky Way. Even with the glow of city lights from nearby Moab visible on the bottom right, the sky from Arches NP is still dark enough to allow a brilliant display of stars, planets and the Milky Way.

A 6-volt incandescent flashlight was used to light Balanced Rock during a 25-second exposure.
